The ARACNE model to handle the reality of groups in vulnerable situations

Objective: The objective of this activity is:

  1. For you to conduct an analysis of the reality that affects the groups with whom you work.
  2. For you to identify the cross-cutting features of the ARACNE Model service that could produce permanent changes among the target population, improving their careers and letting them rise out of their vulnerable situations.

Description:

Given the changing world in which we live today, data on the target population fluctuate extremely quickly, so that the aim of this activity is for students to do their own research into the contextual reality of groups in situations of economic, social and cultural vulnerability in each country.

Development / methodology:

Do the first part of the activity by following these instructions:

  1. Every student should look for documentation on the social, economic and cultural realities of one or more groups in situations of social vulnerability. You can search for documentation on the internet or use other verifiable sources.
  2. Finally, you should create a PowerPoint presentation, where the template is attached, using the sections detailed below:
    • Introduction (Have you selected target groups to analyse? Which sources have you consulted? Also include a four-line summary of what is described in the rest of the presentation).
    • Description of evidence of the reality (support using statistical, comparative… data). Remember to always use reliable sources and to clearly identify them.
    • Identification of triggers (causes leading to the situation) and elements that perpetuate conditions of vulnerability. Remember to always use reliable sources and to clearly identify them.
    • What is your opinion of what is needed to deal with this reality? How do you think it could be transformed? What role do you think social organisations like your own can play in this transformation?

PART TWO

  • Can you identify the main strengths, as well as weaknesses, of the social inclusion through job placement strategies presented to transform the reality of the vulnerable groups?
  • What innovative features and/or methodological complements does the ARACNE model provide for these inclusion strategies?

Time / length (minutes): 90

Evaluation of activity: Evaluate whether this activity has let you better understand the reality of groups with social vulnerability and if you were able to identify the innovative features of the ARACNE MODEL that was just completed and/or to improve the social support techniques presently used. Share your evaluation of the activity on the forum for learning unit 1 (not moderated).

Resources needed for its implementation:

  • Template to create the PowerPoint document
  • Analysis document: The traditional focuses of social inclusion through job placement
  • Links are provided to documents containing updated data that you can read to do this activity
