GoogleKeep - How to use it?

TCC VET How to use it?
Why using this tool – benefits

Google Keep is a note-taking service developed by Google. Launched in 2013, Google Keep is available on the web, and as an app for Android and iOS mobile operating systems. Keep offers a variety of features for taking notes, including text, lists, images, and audio. Users can set reminders, which are integrated with Google Now. Text from images can be extracted using optical character recognition, and voice recordings can be transcribed. The interface allows a single-column view or a multi-column one. Notes can be color-coded, and labels can be applied for organization. Later updates have added functionality to pin notes, and to collaborate on notes with other Keep users in real-time.

Using this app it will be easy to discover that it may help you in a big variety of circumstances:

  • Create notes and lists, set time and place reminders, and check off your completed tasks.
  • Add a collaborator to your notes and lists, then get things done together.
  • Add photos and drawings, or just draw on your photos.
  • Dictate your thoughts, Keep will transcribe them for you.
  • Search notes by automagically created topics.
  • Group notes together with appropriate labels.
  • Access your notes on any device, synced automatically to your phone, tablet, watch, and laptop via the Google Keep website, or Chrome app.
  • Use “Ok Google” voice commands to “take a note” or “add to your to-do list”.

3. To use Keep you obviously need a Google account. If you already have one, go with it. If not, creating a new account is easy and fast.

Let’s say you already have your Google account, and go to see what happens when you download Keep or, even better, you choose Keep from the Google apps already available for free in your pc or mobile device. The screenshot below shows the icons of the commands you can use. Please note in particular the icon of the microphone, one of the most appreciated and useful features that allows you to leave a vocal note that Keep will hold and transform in text:

4. Clicking on the big and coloured “plus” on the right you will add a new note, while the icons on the footer area (including microphone) give you the opportunity to add one or more images to any single note, define labels, modify, store or delete your notes et cetera.

Using Keep, don’t forget to sync your device with the others you have: in this way, your notes will appear everywhere, always synced!
