READING OF ARACNE GUIDE

Objective: The objective of this task is for you to learn about the ARACNE model before starting to work with it while doing training on the model, so that you can get the maximum benefit from the course.

Description: This activity consists of completely reading the methodology guide for the ARACNE model, published in the European project with the same name, executed between 2014 and 2016.

Reflect on those items you consider fundamental in the model, as well as the issues in which you need further support to assist you with understanding it.

Reading the guide is completed with a schematic presentation of the model. If you would like to learn about the origins of the present ARACNE model, please visit the website ARACNE TRAINING, EMPOWERMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (www.aracne.famylias.org).

Development / methodology: Follow the instructions described below:

  1. First, watch the presentation ‘Summary of ARACNE model’ (link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Vx-xjENaD5Ud5ENTMlkHTsua9zXorq3omSw2YOLH1i0/edit#slide=id.g35f391192_00), paying particular attention to the indications on the model map (slide 13).
  2. Second, read the Methodology Guide for the ARACNE model, which is available in Spanish, English, Italian and German (click on the attached document for the language you prefer).
  3. Then answer these questions on the attached worksheet:
    • What do you think is essential in the ARACNE model?
    • Which part or parts do you think need more support or help in order to implement the model?
    • Your answer should be some 200 words total.
  4. If you would like to comment on both questions, you can do so in the forum opened for this unit (not moderated).

Time / length (minutes): 30

Evaluation of activity: Reflect on the distinctive characteristics of the model and compare it to your current professional practice, identify what it could give you and write down the issues you would like to investigate further in the upcoming training units. You can return to this activity after finishing the course and determine whether or not your training expectations have been met.
